in typical fashion i'm super late sending out holiday wishes! and it goes without saying that i'm nowhere near the bottom of my christmas "to do" list, so this is just a quickie love note to all my friends, family and readers who have made blogging so much fun. this year i think i'll continue my quest to be more "green" and send the card digitally... and bonus, we'll save money on stamps! hopefully there are a few kindred spirits out there with the need for a last minute christmas card, in which case this easy freebie will come in handy. just insert your family photo, possibly a message, and voila!! xoxo

vogue matryoshka project
My Nana spent some time in Russia when i was about 12 and brought me back a Matryoshka doll. I adore the unique hand painted detailing, and ever since my Nana passed away a number of years ago it has held a prominent spot in my office. I love that it reminds me of her and her exquisite taste in furniture and fashion (she is definitely where i inherited my love of mid century modern!). Over the last year i've been delighted to see Matryoshka images popping up all over the place, and i just had to share my latest find. For the 10th anniversary of Vogue Russia they invited 31 top fashion designers to create their own interpretation of a modern Matryoshka doll. The idea is genius and the results are so fun, i only wish i could share it with my Nana. (The above images are from Celine, Akhmadullina, Dolce & Gabbana, and Moschino.) Be sure to check out the Vogue website to see all 31 amazing pieces of art. I'm thinking i need to head to ikea and pick up one of their cheap nesting dolls and create some of my own designs!
