random coolness :: momiji dolls

strolling through a favorite local boutique a few months ago, i came upon a series of adorable momiji dolls. as i picked one up to fully appreciate the hand painted details, surprise! there's a small slit in the base for tucking a teensy-weensy personal note. These have fast become my favorite gift for hip friends. Each pint sized wooden design has it's own story and individual flair, making it nearly impossible to choose just one. To top it off, they have a lovely weight in your hands, and many come packaged in spectacularly designed to-go boxes. i couldn't be more inspired! and i love their company story & blog. hope you do to.

 

now i'm just waiting on Pixie, the perfectly pink, cupcake holding, cherry embellished momiji! but she won't be available stateside until the end of june. i may have to holiday in England just to fuel my addiction!

not soon enough...

right about this time last year BasicGrey asked if i'd be willing to work on creating a baby boy line... and with a bun in the oven who happened to be a boy, FOR ONCE my creative instincts were feeling something other than ultra feminine girlie pink florals and fluff! i know, miracles do happen. so i jumped at the opportunity. and luckily for my hot pink inner self, that initial rush of creativity left us with TWO lines. one boy. one girl. plenty of pink. all is well in the world. 

ohhhh, and anyone paying attention can surely guess the name... anyone? (no cheating, i just discovered they posted a sneak peak--names included--on FB! but do swing by there to get a little peek at the patterns!) 

and this isn't the best post, because i don't actually know when these lines will be available... all i can tell you is, not soon enough!

My Mom has always been one of my dearest friends. even during my rebellious purple haired, black clad teen years (yikes, fingers crossed my children won't follow in my footsteps!!). The long hours i spent drawing and crafting alongside my creative Mother are surely what inspired me to become an artist, and nowadays i consider myself incredibly lucky that i get to live just around the corner from her. If ever i'm in need of rescuing, be it babysitting help, crafting help, fashion dilemmas, dinner ideas, or just someone to talk to, i can always count on my mom. so this year i thought i'd take some time to design a card just for her... and anyone else who needs something special for their mom! This sweet little bird card includes colorful eggs for tucking into the nest, and you can personalize the back with your own message. since many of us are just as close to grandma, there's a version for her as well. enjoy!
